Noindexed pages with PageRank

strange...

I have a few pages on my site that I have noindexed with the robots META tag. They are not showing up in SERPs which is as expected. However my Firefox PageRank extension and online PageRank checkers are showing PageRank for these pages. I'm pretty sure I noindexed them well before the latest PageRank update.

Has anyone else seen this? Thanks.

PageRank depends on links and only on links, not content. So urls that are not in the index still can have PR. That said, the toolbar PR reporting can also be buggy.

I think this is the more likely scenario. Thanks.

I think it was pointed out in a few papers on PR that initially a page is assigned a certain PR value and it is then adjusted to reflect the situation after PR iterations take place.
However, some of the pages on my new site only give a grey PR on toolbar ;)

I have some noindex pages with PageRank. It's as Tedster says. They're not indexed but Google knows about the pages because they're linked to. They get crawled and they have PageRank.
