Will missing meta descriptions cause sandbox?

Intern did not add description tags to one of our sites. Will adding it not to all pages cause the site to get sandboxed again?

meta description is very useful.

Are all your page titles unique? If so, maybe not a problem. Description is useful for short pages with navigation links. It gives you a platform for a sales pitch in SERPs.
