Does anyone here have any experience with Google filtering sites that might be flagged as "commercial" in nature?
My experience with some new sites I have produced of late makes me think that the following factors may just keep you out of the serps at least in the short term.

Buying adwords = filter
CJ or CB links = filter (this is a fact)
Adsense = filter
Identifiable Affiliate links = filter

This is just something I suspect based on recent experinces and observations. Even though my sites have plenty of unique content I expect this type of commerial filtering is what cost me authority status on 2 sites. I understand Google offers a type of protection for small ma & pa type sites so it stands to reason the opposite rule does apply. Does anyone else notice this?

Seems pretty clear to me that Google does something to push pure information to the top of some searches where commercial pages might otherwise rank well. Not sure of the mechanism they use, and it's certainly not for every search.

So this being the case what is the best way to protect your site against this type of filtering? What would be the best way to disguise a commercial link?

I doubt Google would stereotype like this. I believe they look at the content on individual page basis. Since big sites get more inbound links, I still see 'commercial content' still ranks very well.

Not in my experience.
