On one of my searches this morning, I found a site with an expired domain above my site in the results. That just ain't right!

Would really apprecaite some assurance from Matt Cutts on this one.
Problem is a search for my inurl shows hundreds of proxies now most are 404s
Those sorts of pages should all have <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> on them. Bots should not even be poking around in there.

Yesterday I had a thought about a commonality between our sites possibly being javascript links? Any thoughts on this?
Over the last 2 weeks, I've emailed everyone (SES gmail etc, Requests for Reinclusion, MC, and even our AdWords Rep) and have been exchanging emails with the Google User Support Team who has repeatedly assured me there is no penalty or ban before they just point me right back to the webmaster guidelines.
I cleaned up the site in question last night and got rid of some of some of the expanding javascript links in favor of a static structure. What happened? Well I got about 30 of my 150 pages back into the index & out of the Supps.
However, now the homepage has gone supplemental! A site search shows the non-www version of the homepage (which is 301'd to the www-version) as a Supp result. Searching for our homepage in Google doesn't even return a result.
We've been spending $100k/month on ppc and this is how google rewards us? sheesh!
As days are passing by..., I doubt Google is going to fix this in the current update. :-(
For some topics my site is 100% unique and the only website which provides information, I was ranked #1 before the update, now, no where to be found! All the other listings are not at all related to the topic. (If anyone from Google wants to see example, please Sticky Mail me.)
They really don't care about small webmasters... and the users of Google search engine will never know information exists.

With that type of cash outlay I would go ballistic on my adwords rep and potentially pull out. They are not going to turn their back on 1.2 million dollars no matter the size of a company.
Response has been appalling with typical "We do not review individual sites etc" coming from the 1st level support team.
I have been in dialogue but at this level they simply do not read your emails or even try to understand how you have been effected. You cannot get to an engineer unless you are very lucky.
If your listening Google Guy you really need to get a team on this ASAP as genuine white hat major brand sites ARE being severley effected for no fault of their own.
I cannot think of any other industry where a leading company could treat its major advertisers in such an outrageous manner.
We pay you for clicks and are happy to do so even if we absorb the cost of fraudulent clicks but we do have a right to be listened too and treated with just a little respect when a genuine error has been made in the natural listings by a company very happy to take our $2,000,000 + a year.
We do not believe that being a major advertiser gives us a right to feature in your natural listings but it should give us the right to communicate with you.
Some form of communication would really be appreciated.

What you post is spot on
Fact remains that many sites have been hit. The way i see it is that when you have traffic from the serps that is free in addition to the PPC traffic in effect you are averaging down what it costs you to get traffic in from Google.
As a result of this fall in traffic we are having to reduce ad spend with google. If the problem continues longer term we will be spending less untill we fall away all together - also you have to question why you should support any supplier that doesnt support your business? Currently google are taking whilst stuffing good authority sites
This supplemental issue is killing our business and if many others are in the same boat ultimately Google will have less ad paying clients and feel it in the pocket in the same way.
This situation is a nightmare

PS - Ref Matt Cutts - i posted an entry on his blog regarding this supplemental issue asking for advise to find the following day he had the post removed - so their is your answer!
1. All live pages of your site excluding your home page have been dropped in the BD datacenters.
2. When checking site:mysite.com in a BD datacenter, your home page is the first listing followed by supplemental listings that aren't even live pages in your site? Or once were live listings? Some of the supps I have no idea how google would even find without scouring the root of the public directory in my web server!
3. When checking google.com for a keyword you rank high in, it shows up sometimes, hit refresh and it's gone, however when checking the cache, it appears that it is staying fairly fresh and the cache date is increasing each day?
I'd love to tell you the site I control. Every one of you know it. It's very popular and has been around since 1997. It is highly authoratative, gets (got) many favorable keyword listings and has been PR7 for as long as I can tell. All of my subpages are even PR5.
Man, I hope this is a mistake, and if it is, google should explain what caused it. I doubt it has anything to do with my site structure. It's all static html pages with no scripting at all... never has.

I spend about $40,000 - $55,000 a month on adwords for a variety of sites. I was forced to pause all 55 campaigns until things are fixed. I can not afford to spend nearly $2k a day on advertising when the profits just are not there.
I'm hoping things are fixed sooner rather then later.

IMO, this company has taken the wrong turn. In case you haven’t noticed, it is very clear they are now forcing many sites out of the SERPs (and into Adwords). This situation will probably continue for a few more months, enough time to allow them to accurately measure the affect it has on the number of new adwords clients they gain and their daily spending. Learn to live with it. It is not going to get any better. It was a downhill affair for most once Adwords was introduced to the world...and it is only getting worse since :(

That of course ain't right, but seems confirms that they are experimenting in the boosting the original content at the expense of the derivatives. Since it is new we observer some glitches.
Another glitch is that many pages came to supplemental instead of simply loose high SERP position.
The main pages though preserved their high SERP because they are always original.

Back then, Google were saying that Supplemental Results would be re-indexed next time the page was crawled. I had that in writing from the Google Helpdesk on multiple occasions.
Two years later, virtually NONE of those listings have been cleaned up (even though they spider and recache the pages every week). Google was wrong; and has made more and more of a mess with those listings. [webmasterworld.com...]
Has anyone had any success in getting out of the supplementary index with or without a re inclusion request?
Please someone ..... give us some hope ..... there are legit reasons not to be sent to the dungeon for a life sentence!
Same here, many worthless listing. Another irritating thing. Tons..and I mean tons of dead domains being used as ebay redirects. Some searches its 30% of the first 4-5 pages of the serps. Thats about all I can handle going through without getting ill.
To make matters worse, I see more and more of them being added into my sector via my Google alert.

One of my sites has lost about 80% of the pages it had indexed outright. And of the remaining 20%, I'd say 80% of those are now marked as supplemental.
My site was picking up a little steam about a month and a half ago, but now I'm barely getting any traffic. And for some reason, the traffic I am getting isn't nearly as qualified as the traffic I had been receiving.
As a result, I'm starting to get a little concerned about smartpricing since my (adsense) click through rates are miserable compared to what they were a few weeks back. So, this could potentially be a triple whammy against me.
Just felt like complaining.

Home page is first,indexed normally.. fine. The rest are supplemental and most of them are good relevant, usually active pages, but showing a cache of 12-18 months ago. Cannot find another non supplemental page from my site.

Have not seen any of my pages (except the home) rank anywhere near the top of my terms in several weeks. I watched them slowly drop off through the month of Feb, little by little.
If you think that he should be addressing topics such as supplemental nightmares, big daddy optimisation and other more pertinent subjects ... raise your hand.
Oh, and did anyone else find GG's visit yesterday just a little bit odd? It didn't sound like the old GG, altogether less authoritative and just a little bit too nicey nicey. Just a thought, but could google be playing us again?
