Google Suspends Penalty Notice Emails

There recently was a spate of fake Gooogle emails "notifying" webmasters that their sites were in line for a penalty. Vanessa Fox announced:

Because these emails are easy to mistake for authentic ones from Google, we've temporarily discontinued sending them as we work on ways to provide more secure communication mechanisms. We hope this will reduce confusion.

So if you do get an email right now, it definitely IS fake. Don't get crazy trying to "de-optimize" your site.

Just add to webmaster tools after you have verified your site. Best thing.

Sometimes I am thinking that it would be good to get an email from Google about penalties, instead, like now, you don't have a clue what's going on. One day you're in, next day you're out, one day they send 5,000 uniqu next day 500 unique.
I can understand some experimenting but this is getting rediculous! It's like a friggin traffic cop standing in the middle of the road not knowing what he does :( Guess that why more and more people start using that pile of dogs instead........
