Does Adwords Help PR?

Just started Adwords today, now have PR4.

My site, up since mid-February, had PR0 until today when it went to PR4. Coincidence that I just started my first Adwords campaign? Funny thing too, my index page has a couple dozen inbound links but PR1, and other pages, with only site-related links, have PR4. Any ideas what's causing that?

Another funny thing is that the Google backward-link-tool now shows new links (at least for my site). I was told this tool was disabled many years ago. What gives?

Yes, I'm 100% sure that's a coincidence -- there was just a PR update exported to the toolbar and just happened to coincide with the timing of your Adwords campaign.

On your other point, the link: operator was never disabled. It just shows a changing sample of your backlinks, and never all of them. Checkout this thread: The link: Operator - it's not like other search engines! [webmasterworld.com]
