Duplicate content trouble from short article samples?

I am developing a website consisting mostly of articles. I have the articles split up in parts and under sections.

For example: under Doberman History there are several parts such as Karl Doberman, Gene Pool, The First Doberman, and so on.

What has me a little worried is how I have this set up. One the “Doberman History” page there is a list of the section and under each section description is a sample of the article – like the first paragraph or part of the first paragraph.

Does this sound safe? I have thought about rewording the sample, but then that nullifies the point….

What you describe is a pretty common practice - I do it on several sites with no problems that I can see.
