disallow unneccessary pages?

I have <a topical fan site> with a PR of 2 and about 21000 pages index in a year. most of them are image pages like example.com/album/subalbum/picname.html

Since they won't bring any google traffic other than google image search, should I disallow googlebot to those pages?
What is the code to prevent googlebot to index, but allow google image bot to index?

On my site the image pages are generally found through standard searches. The image searches find the little pics that illustrate some of the main pages!

I hadn't thought of trying to manage the bots in this way and am not entirely convinced.
