Will changing the web site IP affect our rankings?

Using Multivariable testing tools require a new IP & CNAME

I'm planning to use a multi-variable testing tool for a cliennt's web site. To do so we need to add a CNAME to the nameserver, which will point to the tool with a new IP address and then on the back end go back to the site adding a x-forwarded by to the HTTP headers. The client will not see any difference in the URL.

Basically, instead of going from browser to nameserver to web server, it will add a step between the nameserver and web server.

Current:
browser=>nameserver=>web server

New:
browser=>nameserver=>testing tool=>web server

We will be the only website on this IP.

Is there anything we should be wary/carefull of? Anything we can check in advance?

thanks,
Alon

This is something like moving to a new host - which is usually trouble free unless someone makes a nasty technical error with the DNS. Matt Cutts posted a primer for moving hosts a few months back that might help you clarify your plans.

Thanks for that link.

Besides making sure we are the only ones on the new IP, is there anything we should look out for in the IP itself?
