All but 9 of my images have disappeared from Google

A few days ago I had 123 images listed on google - now only 9. Hence much fewer traffic over last few days.

Any ideas what could have happened?

I've experienced a reverse of your situation: pretty much 99% of images from my website disappeared from Google's image search at least 8 months ago, i thought they'd never come back, until 2 days ago (Sunday, 8th of April 2006). i now have 125 images up... might be an update to image search? I sure hope so! my traffic is up 25% - back then, it dropped good 30-40% because of the loss of images.

actually, if this is any consolation, i monetize my site with adsense and loss of those inbound hits didn't put as big of a dent into my earnings as i thought - in fact, those hits do not bring a lot of income or repeat visitors.
