Does IP Forwarding Affect Google Rankings?

Question about IP forwarding and whether there is an impact on positioning.

Hi All,
I'm setting up an ecommerce site. I requested that my site has a unique IP from the hosting company but because of the package, they told me they can not give me a unique IP. They can however set up 'IP forwarding'. I want my domain to basically point to an IP that is not shared with other sites they host for 2 reasons:

1) Some content on the sites they manage is similar so I don't want Google and other SEs to rank my site lower because of similar content on different domains sharing the same IP.

2) I want my site to be accessible in China and I have had a different site on a shared IP that could not be seen in China. I started paying for a unique IP at the hosting company this other site was on and the site can now be viewed there.

So, is 'IP forwarding' going to return a different IP from the other sites. If I ping my domain, will it give me a different IP from the other sites?

P.S. I posted this on another forum but nobody replied and I really need some feedback on this - many thanks.

Doesn't sound good to me.

I would get a host that can really give you your own IP.

The "IP forwarding" sounds strange.
They need to explain to you exactly what they mean. I think they're blowing smoke.

Then you'll need a dedicated IP. Period. Change hosts, that one seems to have invented something new.
