Google Images Ignores Filename when Chosing Results?

I must say I am a novice when it comes to Google image search but here's what I notice. (I wonder - is there any definitive Google Images posts on Webmasterworld you can point me to or we can form here)?

• Google ignores filename?
• Google Brings results up for sites that are associated with the keyword

From my analysis this is what I see. So if you want to rank for an image forget about what the image is called and make sure youre optimising for the keyword in site titles etc?
