Google Site: Operator Changes as You Page Through the Results

Hi,

I am befuddled by Google. I enter site:www.mysite.com into Google and the first page says "Results 1 - 10 of about 3,850". That sounds good.

However, I go through the result pages and when I get to page 4, it says "Results 31 - 31 of 31" and won't list any more. I should have over 2000 pages. Yes, I have a sitemap with Webmaster Tools.

I try to search for products with quite unique titles and they don't show up at all.

Can anyone tell me what's going on? It's been like this for a while (maybe months) and loss of sales shows this is a real problem.
