Hi~ I want to change the title and snippet of my homepage.. my files are being spidered OK at the moment,i guess. I mean, page rank is quite good now. so, problem is this. I'm not sure about changing title and snippe, but I heard that changing a file names or content is likely to lead to a big drop in traffic for a few months. would it be the same w/ title and snippet? if so, isn't there any other way to change the title and snippet and avoid this problem at the same time?

Your title and description are only part of the picture with regard to where you rank. Changing them can affect your ranking upwards or downwards. If you still use the keywords you are targetting then it should not make a dramatic difference.

This is a different situation from changing a filename. As I understand it the search engines index pages by their file names. If their robots come back to check the page by looking for it under its old filename and they cannot find it them they will drop it. The renamed page would effectively have to find its place in the rankings like any other new page.
