Hi Guys,

Relatively new to the SEO thing. So please bare with me.

I have a business based in the UK however when I set up the website i did it under the .com domain.

I get good google results, but not if people search on google.co.uk with the UK SITES ticked. It seems that google doesnt see my site as a UK entity, the server is located outside the UK.

I have modified META TAGS to state UK but as of yet this has made no difference.

SO, to try and overcome this issue I have set up in IIS the .co.uk domain and this is submitted to google along with sitemaps web tools etc, its a complete mirror of the site, infact, its just IIS changing the headers to return .co.uk instead of .com

However, I'm slightly worried and confused, I have read mixed reports on duplicate content.

Can someone confirm where I stand?

Move to a UK server. I have 2 sites that rock on .CA (canada) and suck on .com (US based site). I thought I could over come this but after 4 years I'm giving up and move to a US host.

Unfortunately moving to a UK server is not an option at present.

ALL our servers are based outside the UK

My main question is will this duplication harm my google rankings?

Duplicate content will likely have one or both of your sites banned or penalized, so act fast to prevent it. For your problem, point the A record of the .uk domain to your .com domain (since it is the main one), and move to a host in the UK. There is no other way to appear on google.co.uk with the UK SITES ticked to my knowledge. A very common problem for many UK site owners.
