I want to switch shopping carts but since if I switch I will want to change to one that has html pages instead of a database like MC, but I do not want to switch just to find out the problem is not with Monster Commerce. I just do not understand what is happening. I have tried everything I could possible think of on my end to make our site the best it could be.
A page rank 7 homepage does not necessarily mean that other internal pages within the site will come up very well in searches. To a large degree each individual URL is judged on its own merit. Similar product pages with less unique content have been hit pretty hard by Google recently.
Have you tried searching for exact 10 word phrases from the product pages in "quotes"? If they do not show up then, but still show pagerank, they could be in the supplemental pages pile.
If you do a site: www.yourdomain.com and the pages in question show as supplemental, that will be the reason they are not coming up for specific phrases.
More incoming links and more unique content can really help.
Selling products its very easy to just use the manufacturer text for your product description. Resist this. It can and most likely will be seen as dupe content.
On a side note, google is so in bed with amazon and ebay that their listings take priority on most searches. Very disheartening for the consumers since both of these sites are simply shopping engines.
Companies can list their products on amazon, give them a cut of the sale (10-15%) just like ebay takes a portion... then these companies I'm sure give a cut to google through advertising or some other venue.
Seems like it's becoming a "pay to play" search engine and I dont like it from a seller or consumer.
