I just made two new sites that are unrelated to any other sites I have. So I wanted to get them indexed quickly without linking to them. One is a PHPBB board and the other is a WordPress blog. Yesterday I installed a sitemap generator for PHPBB and then submitted the sitemap to Google sitemaps. Then I added a ton of ping servers to the blog and made an initial post (also added to a feed burning site).
Both were unindexed yesterday but are indexed today, thanks to sitemaps and pings apparently. Not all of the (few) pages are in but I'm happy to see them in the index anyway.

Now I just noticed that the hack I made to PHPBB to keep the sid out of the url did not work so I'm off to fix that.

Build a search engine, and invite your site to submit to your search engine, and you will be indexed in a sec.

Just kidding, I don't think you will be able to do it with out links. You could submit your site to Yahoo manually, but eventually they will be forgotten as no sites are pointing to yours. Another fast option, buy a high PR link for about three months...and you will be spidered almost every day.

I'm not planning on never getting links but I just wanted to see how fast I could get the sites indexed while I track down some links.
Also note that in my post I reported success...

If its a cool board, write an article about it and post it to sites like digg. That will give you a quick link and some traffic.

You should also look into putting adsense on everypage. That way when a page is surfed, google will crawl it immediately.

With sitemaps it is easy to get a site that is only a few pages in the index quickly. If you don't have any links, it will drop out just as quickly in about a month.

The immediate impact of sitemaps is only good for a few pages. I've found that for a moderate sized site (100+ pages) that even with a couple of links and a sitemap, that it will still take over a month to index the entire site.
