Gained back my fresh tag

I had a few (hah!) problems with Google. After fixing them, and hoping that Goog would fix them on their own, I finally submitted a re inclusion and after 5-6 weeks I gained my fresh tag back. Now, it has been updated daily for the past week. (The ranking for the front page were restored about a week after re-inclusion.)

What's the fresh tag's significance?

As far as ranking: I rank very nice for my main page, but not all my pages are indexed. For the rest, the rankings aren't great, or near where they once were--obviously I hope they change now. I added a few categories to my home page and the number of indexed has been increasing in the past few days. I also made the product page menus as .js to increase the uniqueses and hopefully that will help with indexing and ranking.

Does having a fresh tag mean anything, other than faster spidering?
