As you know every website have thousand links.

But when we search in google like this: "link:http://www.example.com"

then you website show only less links in google.

Like if your website have 300+ back links data but when you will search in google search box "link:http://www.example.com"

then you will see only 30 to 90 links (it is targeted links)

Google only show quality and aged links means your others links do not full fil all search engine guidelines.

more...........

Thnks
Many

[edit reason] No URLs. Always use example.com for examples. [/edit]

If I get what you're saying...

Last time I checked google only lists pages with PR4+ on the link:site.tld query. Though all other links (as showin in webmaster tools) still count towards your popularity and PR.

Google only chooses to show a smaple and it is random at best. It does not list sites in terms of priority links versus non priority and does not list in order of ranking weight.

The links: parameter changes all the time.

Cain and Jake have it right - see Google link: operator FAQ - it's not like other search engines [webmasterworld.com] for more.

Google does make a lot more backlink information available these days, but not publicly -- only to the site owner through their Webmaster Tools account. Even so, it's still not a complete report. See Google Webmaster Tools reporting LOTS more link info [webmasterworld.com].
