The new appliances could expand the potential customer universe for those partners.

Right now I have google desktop on dnak remote,
lets me search from any computer, just like a search engin,
I have 10 network drives index and my exchange server.
Im searching 2million docs for free from any computer i want.
I'd renew my subscription here if they brought back search
It is back in the search engine indexes so you can search again!
Desktop search is a program running on your computer that scans your hard disk for documents and indexes them for search.
Intranet/Enterprise search is for companies that have web or other document servers available from within the company, but not available to the general public. So I could find a document from the HR department explaining why my insurance doesn't cover anything, for example :-) Another variant of this is "site search" whereby a company uses the search appliance to full crawl and index content from the public website. While you can sort of get this for free using Google's "site:www.widget.com <query>" capability, it is limited to documents it can get at from a hyperlink, and is far from within our control. In both Intranet and Site search, the appliance is located within the company's firewall and controlled by the company.
