Redirect some pages to another site? (enforce one theme)

Should I 301 redirect some off-my-topic pages from one site to another?

I have thousands of posts at a widget blog (Site A), most of them about widgets. However, some of them are about wadgets, and those tend to get a lot of traffic specifically from images.google.com. Several months ago I started another site just about wadgets (Site B), and I post my wadget-related material there now. I want Site A to be known as a widget blog, not a wadget blog.

What would happen if I 301 redirected the wadget pages at Site A to one or more pages at Site B? (To either Site B's homepage or copied or rewritten wadget pages). I've got adsense running on both sites and the WHOIS is the same, so I don't doubt that Google/etc. know I own both. (They're on different IPs, and I have various other sites on the Site A and Site B IPs).

If you 301 the pages to Site B's homepage, those pages will cease to exist. Essentially, you'd be redirecting them for any link traffic and link credits they may have, as well as for bookmark traffic.

If you're creating a new wadget site, the better approach would be to move your site A wadget content to site B, essentially in the same form as it was previously, with a different page template, etc, as appropriate. WebmasterWorld occasionally does the same thing when it creates a new forum... moves the appropriate content from other forums to the new one.

If you're already duping some of your site A content on site B, you definitely want to get rid of the dupes on site A by redirecting the old pages to the new ones.

I'd try to avoid redirecting to the site B home page.
