Will updating Adsense code on a page cause a fresh crawl?

I'm not sure if a page will get a new cache date when you change Adsense code on this page. Not sure if Google considers this page as updated in this case.

Google search caches when it feels like it; changes make that more likely, adsense or any other tweak, but nothing is guaranteed.

It certainly will not force a crawl.

The two spiders are separate any way and according to Google do not talk to each other.

I think you've misundertood something, skweb. Since Big Daddy rolled out last year, Google's spiders do share a common cache and their crawls are coordinated. It's just that having Adsense account does not affect ranking. But spidering, that earlier first step, is coordinated across various Google spiders.
