Meta Descriptions - what exactly does 'unique' mean?

Hey guys,

I'm not a frequent poster, just a frequent reader/observer but have a question that I can't find in the google search forum.

I have seen everyone talk quite a bit about unique meta description tags. Do you mean unique page to page or from the tag to the content? I have had a problem with supplementals when I have unique page to page, but the description is taken right from my content. I then sometimes use that same line to give context to a link from another interior page.

Anyone else had something similiar happen to them recently?

Hey Jimmy,
We've had similar problems before. I would suggest you let the meta description just show what the page is about. Not an exact/partial copy of the content on that particular page. It helped us out alot!

Each url tag needs to be unique with a good description.
