I have tailored my UK site for visitors from the UK, USA and Canada so that either American or British English is used, and prices are shown in the right currency. I determine user location from IP address. (But users are able to change their location if they want to).
The problem I have is that the google spider shows up as American, so it caches my products with American prices and spelling and shows that as the result when I search from google.co.uk
I don't want that to happen as it might put off UK visitors. Ideally I want the UK version on google.co.uk in the results.
Should I look for google bot in the user agent and if found put settings as UK instead of US or would that count against me as cloaking?
Is there a way to get US settings to show up if Americans search google and UK settings if Brits search google.co.uk or am I asking too much?
Thanks a lot.
