Just noticed a few minutes ago at MD a new back link update almost at all DC's

Well, as far as my sites are concerned that little peek into the future is over. I am back to prejagger pr and backlinks. But for a while last night, I definitely had a new bl count.

Why would the directory listing of a site get bumped to the bottom of its catagory with no PR but still show PR7 in toolbar?

I thought everyone knew that directory and toolbar PR are updated at different times, so don't necessarily show the same thing. We took a nose-dive in directory PR in the last directory update, but toolbar PR remained as before.

If your PR7 site shows as PR0 in the directory, I'd be worried about a drop in the next toolbar update. How are your serps? A PR0/penalized site is unlikely to get good serps, so if your serps are stable, chances are the directory PR is inaccurate -- at least that's what I'm hoping.

It appears there are now more sites listed in the directory, even though DMOZ still shows the previous figures -- actually a 3.5 percent higher count in Google over DMOZ. This is weird. Anyhow, I'm not seeing evidence of a directory PR update, so it may just be a re-shuffle to include those additional listings. Not sure where this data is coming from though!?!

Something similar happened with my site after Allegra. I had a mess with the 302 hijack/canonical problem (fixed, but Google still doesn't realize) and my website listing dropped towards the bottom of the Google directory and showed no PR.

My index page still showed a PR 5 until the last PR update, many months later, now it's zero, nada, zilch. Interesting enough, some other pages still have PR.

Similar to what LegalAlien stated, I'd be worried if your stable serps took a dive. Otherwise, it maybe it's a glitch and will sort itself out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

My site is in second page of google, is this backlink update effect to SERP?

i am not so lucky ..... backlink up from 16 to just 21

however with link: space domain.com its up from 78 to 428 :-)

There has been a major backlinks export thats for sure. I have lost a chunk of my links, is a PR update to follow the export. Is it possible that due to the loss of links there can be a drop in PR.

rkhare: I am quite new to all this, so I would like to ask, why is such a great difference between link:domain.com and link: space domain.com IBL count? What does the second command show?

so whats the practical sense of all this backlinks updates - does google counts link after it got refreshed in the backlinks(i know that only of ~10% are actually visible)

asking this because I have no ranking change due to the BL update...

Nothing.

Both link:domain.com and link: domain.com show pretty useless information. Links shown with link: command has little to do with both PR and SERPs. So the importance of backlink update is minor, the most important consequence is that it may be followed with index update.
