I have a site with 130K existing pages in Google's cache. A few days ago, I added about 4K new pages to my site. These pages are in a newly created subdomain (subdomain.example.com).

Since my site has a PR8, is it reasonable to assume these new pages should get indexed within a week to a month?

The number of new urls should not be a problem, but the fact that it's a new subdomain may mean that full indexing goes a bit slower while the trust filters do their checking. It's always difficult to give predictions about Google, but your expectations sound reasonable to me -- especially if the new subdomain soon acquires some natural external backlinks.
