February 2007 Google SERP Changes

And here it is. 12:00pm CST My site magicly disapeared from Google's earth. 1st page for many majour keywords, now is no where in the first 9,999.

Just an update on my situation. I like a few others was getting low results when using the site operator. The difference with me it appears is that my traffic has not been affected, it has actually increased over the last 2 weeks. Even hitting a small milestone in visits.

This is normal. But as soon as the filter kicks in, your pages may be dropped. I believe the site:tool and the above thread from g1smd are trying to tell you something.

Fix your dupe content urgently :)

Why would it be normal? I don't know if you read my first post about this but I have many pages that show up using regular search that are not supllemental, they just aren't listed when you do the site command, this has happened in the last few weeks.

Edit for clarification (hopefully :P): site:www.mydomain.com brings up the first three pages with the rest being supplemental.

widget site:www.mydomain.com will bring up numerous pages that are not found under the regualar site search that are not supplemental.

searching for just widget and the page will show up as well.

My Duplicate content problem has been fixed months ago, the supplemental results I'm seeing i can only guess are pages that are still dupes in the index that Google hasn't reindexed. I have one URL per page with unique titles, description and meta tags... Anything that could remotely be seen as duplicate content has been restricted by robots.txt .

site: http://www.example.com brings the same result as http://www.example.com

site:http://www.example.com brings the correct result. Just the space between site: and http seems to throw the thing off. Didn't know that. :/

My site which went up and down like a yoyo in August and September last year, before diving down to an average 20-30 in ranking ever after.. has now jumped back up to first page positions again!

It seems when most of you guys are going down, my site is going up, and when you guys are going up, my site collapses in Google :)

(Another curiousity with mine is it was ranking well in .co.uk throughout, only getting knocked up/down on .com)

The site: command for my site shows 1 result -- my home page. Yesterday it showed one of 1830 pages, now the results page says it is showing 1 of 3 pages. I have close to 2000 unique pages in my site, so it doesn't seem very accurate, to say the least.

For the last few weeks it's seemed like there's a weekend set of SERPs that get replaced by the weekday SERPs. And even during the week there are the morning, evening and night-time SERPs. But I've seen most of the changes occur Friday night and Sunday night. Sunday night they go back to what they were Friday. Friday they revert to last weekend's exciting selection. I'm going to be on the lookout Friday. You can almost set your watch to it.

I agree, I only posted the information to share what I was seeing after seeing a simialr problem posted by someone else. Again my traffic is unaffected and has actually risen since this has begun.

My traffic is the same also, and if you test the site command with several large well known sites, you get the same dead beat results.

So I say: All is well, remain calm. Your site is ok, the site:command has the hick-ups, not you.

our clients too his trafic recovered yesterday. its really cool to see that and hopes google stick to this results

One of my site position bounces for targetted kws every day, one day for a kw shows on 8th position the very next day it bounces to 27th position again next day will rank on 7th, same thing happening to other kws too for the site I am really getting confused with the rankings.

Argh! Traffic and rankings jumped last Friday-ish, were all as 'normal' (to last year until October standards) and now it's all gone again today! I hope that wasn't just Google accidentally turning on their pre-October-my-site-totally-died-in-the-rankings version ;-)

I too have taken a huge hit in the past four hours. I normally get about 100 referrals per one hour from Google. In the past four hours I've received five visitors from Google where I should have had about 400.

Man, it seems that every week is a new adventure with Google. I've been down for the last two days after being hit with the 950 a few weeks ago. I have actually made a few modifications to my site that I thought Google would like - but I guess I was wrong. No more changes for me, except to enhance the site for my visitors.

I have been trying to "enhance" my site for visitors ever since it dropped off the face of Google's SERPs in June last year. Still no luck. I'm beginning to wonder if enhancing a site for Google's algorithm is a more worthwhile effort.

EXACTLY 14 months to the day my site went live, and it's finally made it to #1 - for both the singular and plural versions of my primary keyword, displacing the site that had been at #1 for three years.

I can't believe it. Hopefully it will hold.

Yep, one of my sites saw a big drop around midnight Friday. Saturday and today have been dismal. Seems to be the normal up, down, further down, recover, down, cycle for that site.

One of my site and its subpages dropped from 1st page to 11-100 pages of Google SERPs after midnight 16/17 Feb. It is the first time this happens to this site. Is this a new filter to Google SERPs?

I've actually seen a nice increase in traffic [ again ] after losing some for one site. The increase seems to have started around 2/12/07.

Other sites don't seem to be affected... who knows.
