Snippet full of <select><option> values

Taking <select> options not text from page?

For a site with no meta description, but which contains a long list of countries as options in a dropdown <select> element, many snippets are parts of that country list. Why is Google showing these lists, and can I get Google to ignore them?

The entire snippet reads, for example:

Choose a country... Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas ...
