Home Page Penalized - Rest of Site OK?

I seem to have tripped a filter/penalty which is affecting only my homepage

I have never seen this before. On a relatively new site of mine (established in August 2006) I seem to have tripped some sort of penalty / filter - but it is only affecting the home page of the site. For some reason, Google does not want to show any love for the home page of the site and has dropped it entirely from their rankings.

Now the rest of the site is still doing well and I haven't seen a drop in referral traffic from Google (actually, I've seen a continued growth to the traffic), so its not as if they are penalizing the whole site.

Google's webmaster tools shows that they haven't visited my homepage since January 10th.

The only thing that I can think of is that I recently purchased a directory submission to about 100 directories. Is it possible that there were a few bad neighborhoods in that submission which caused Google to lose any trust in my homepage?

That could be. A case of too much too fast like the other guy I responded to. I always do my submissions myself, taking my time. That way you can make sure your not in a "crappy" directory, you have more control over the category, and you can tweak the descriptions so they are not all identical in each directory.

Yeah, I'm kicking myself for doing that.

You think that Google will drop this pretty quickly if I get a few new IBLs to the homepage (from good places)?

Probably, you only bought 100 submissions, that's relatively small.
