How secret is Google?

I very curious as to how secret google really is?

How many people know the algo's and has anyone ever escaped from the company and leaked any info?

Is google a dangerous company to mess with?

Could you go missing in the middle of the night if you try and find out too much about them?

Has anyone ever felt the might of Google?

I am curious to gauge peoples feelings?

None of the 00 agents make it out of googleplex alive, not even the famed 007.

Matt Cutts has been seen outside of the 'plex on several occasions.

He has even been seen at SEO events.

Whether he was trying to escape was not stated...

Doesn't Matt have an implanted beacon that the Google spaceship complete with transporter beam always has a lock on?

I could have sworn that was the reason he keeps going blip, blip, blip.

Matt was not actually outside the plex - he had just turned "supplimental" for a while after a bad meal "push" - I am pretty sure he is back in the plex now.

Sadly, you all believe Matt Cutts is an actual person.

Reminds me of people who think the shows "Entourage" or "24" are reality TV.

MC is a fictional personality...
And of course, you've "seen" him at the SEO conferences.
Doesn't Spock show up at the Sci-fi conferences as well?

You may have noticed Googlers wear this pretty little necklace with the Google logo on it in gold.

Inside the necklace is a supercomputer than can read minds and perform voice recognition.

If the computer determines the Googler is divulging secrets then the computer blows up, taking the googler with it.

Did you notice Matt always buttons his top button?

No-one.

Due to compexity of algo, or deliberately for security?

This comes up every now and then. IMOHO....

Google's algorithm is not one formula. It is a collection of formulas/modules. Why do I think I know this? Because Matt Cutts has written about consulting people/teams that are responsible for certain parts of the algorithm to find out how Google handles certain types of data.

Therefore, as Google is a black box to us, to insiders Google is a series of black boxes. I am sure that there are some people who have knowledge of how each black box operates but I doubt there is anyone intimately familiar with the actual code in all of them.

Therefore anyone who came out of Google desiring to reproduce the algorithm would have to think out, program and test the whole caboodle. That would take a lot of time and resources.

So what would you do if you did know the algorithm? Build relevant content, build relevant content relationships within your website, optimize your markup as you would for a blind person, and get relevant links. In other words, knowing would change nothing.

Yet when the uncover reporter finally writes her book, she will reveal more than the algo. :)

The movie will then follow called "The Algo"

Hey, where do you think they got the inspiration for the 'memory eraser' (the pen version) from, when they made the movie "Men In Black"?

Maybe we're all former Googlers, but our memory has been erased... forever ;)

In other words, knowing would change nothing.

Exactly.

Not to mention, the weighting of the various factors change regularly.

The reason Matt's blog ranks so high for many things isn't because he knew some secret, it is because he is a source for good information, and he gets links to that information.
