Is too much change to a site bad for "trust"?

Hi,

I’ve noticed a detrimental effect on Google with the addition of new content to my site, in particular the home page.

The domain is about 1 year old and a month ago, it’s gone through a complete makeover in terms of content and structure.

Before the changes were made, we were in the top 10 results on a highly competitive keyword, since then, the site has had constant changes in the page content on the home page and across the site, and my theory is that Google is finding it hard to “trust” the new site resulting in a big drop in ranking.

The content is all highly relevant and has a good level of keyword density and quality.

Has anyone had a similar problem where they have dropped places in Google because of constant changes to their site?

Not uncommon, I'm in the same process myself and expect to suffer similarly, though I'm doing it piecemeal to try to minimise damage.

The "constant changes in the page content" doesn't sound good, you should try to stabilise at least the home page as soon as possible, IMO...

I find the 'little and often' is less painfull. A small change every month seems to be the way to go for my home page
