Only certain keywords or other exact matches seem to be hit.

Imagine a big company buys adwords,(also casinos are still there)
cant it be that the keywords they buy, also are surpressed in the serps?

Many things "can" be and "might" be -- but to my mind, in reality there cannot be a connection between Adwords and organic search results. It would be business suicide to play that game and Google knows it.
