Because of the placement directly beneath the 10th listing and the white spacing design I realized that I was not noticing the links to the the results pages that follow. Later, when I wanted to visit the second page of results I found myself searching for the link and having to re-educate myself because it was not where I expected it to be.
I appreciate the thinking behind 'Searches related to:.' It is a feature designed to assist searchers, and the searchers' experience should be Google's primary concern for the organic listings.
As a publisher, though, I am concerned. By giving preferential placement to 'Searches related to:' above the links to the additional SERPs will documents that rank on the second and subsequent pages experience a dramatic decrease in click-throughs? This is a chilling thought. While one cannot dispute the importance of top ten listings for well-queried keywords and phrases, the introduction of 'Searches related to:' may make breaking into the top ten even more important, especially if searchers flip between 'Searches related to:' results rather than exploring deeper into the SERPS.
