I'm in the middle of trying to investigate a supplemental and cached page 'problem' with one of our sites and I'm not getting the results I expect.
If I search for site:mysitedomain.com I get "about" 88 results. The first one is my main URL in the format "mysitedomain.com/ - 5k - Cached - Similar Pages"
If I click on that cache link I get a cached page from 19 Dec 06. However if I try the following in a Google search box I get nothing returned:
cache:mysitedomain.com
cache:mysitedomain.com/
cache:www.mysitedomain.com
cache:www.mysitedomain.com/
(and all above with spaces after the colon)
Set up and background: All pages have a bit of php in the head to send a 301 and redirect to mysitedomain.com* if www.mysitedomain.com* is accessed. I have an OSCommerce install under this domain and tons of results from this directory are supplemental.
The domain is about 3 years old, but the site has been stale with very little content and few changes until about Sept 2006. Since then we're starting to update and change bits and bobs, and take an interest in it.
