Does fake PR help?

I just recently exchanged link with a site with a fake PageRank which i found out just now using.

My question is, does sites with fake PageRank helps or gives value to your site if you exchange link with them.

Well, only the real PR will be calculated into their "vote" for your page. So the links is only as helpful as that site is solid. If someone is faking PR, I wouldn't trust them to be a "good neighbor", or would I link out to them.

I don't know how you can fake pr, unless you steal a pic of a pr bar from a high ranking site. That is very deceptive if you ask me. I would NEVER link with someone like that. Quality links with honest webmasters will get you where you want your site to go. The true page rank will show in the google tool bar if you have one installed. I wasn't sure just what pr ment and I ran across an old post here about pr that explains it quite well, since I just received a pr ranking and didn't know why.

My guess is that your incoming link has some negative value.

IMO incoming links do little to harm your site, outgoing do.

so don't link back to the cheater and you are fine.

Not yeally, that's only T(oolbar-)PR and pretty worthless, too.
