Ideas on the follow would be most, most interesting and maybe helpful:

I have seen on one of my pages that the use of the plus sign in links is really helping me.
in this case it is something like ONE TOPIC + RELATED TOPIC + VARIENT all on the same link line. ALL are getting picked up - better as a result of the +.

Ideas - reactions - comments pls.

In order to try and get a discussion going I wish to re-write (maybe with more clarity) what I posted yesterday: namely that I am seeing that by using (FROM TIME TO TIME - NOT ON ALL LINKS) several words on the link which are all seperated by a + sign (for example the link would go on the whole sentence that follows: CATS PARIS + CAT FOOD + PETS PARIS).

Done, as I stressed above, from time to time this has actually placed the LINKING PAGE in the top 10 for the words -- so all someone has to do is go to that page, find the link that says CATS PARIS + CAT FOOD + PETS PARIS and click on that and find the site.

This is new to me - ideas needed.

I see. I thought at first you meant using the plus sign in the URL. Yes, anchor text is often not appreciated as an on-page factor for the linking page, but it is still quite strong. That far I am totally with you.

But as far as I've experienced, symbols and punctuation in the anchor text are simply ignored. How do you see that this approach would be any better than just using regular keyword phrases in anchor text, without any symbols? Or just using dashes as separators?

There are two reasons I go with the + and then + and then + in the anchor text as opposed to a long sentence or several comas in the sentence:

1) The reading of the link is clearer for the site users
2) A lot of database searching is based on the principles of Boolean logic or what are three logical operators:
OR
AND
NOT

... if you run a search with a + sign it goes Boolean --- hence the idea of the + (plus) sign on the anchor text as it will get picked up for the 2 connecting search terms - not just for the term.

I am trying this. Not sure yet if it works.

This will surely be the next technique to be banned/penalized.
