Hi guys

I have been reearching using GeoIP to prioritise products depending on the visitors region. I know that if I had seperate products lists relevant to a country, then a redirection to a subdomain would be more apt, but in this case all the products are relevant to most countries and that would in effect put me in dupe-content territory.

So what I want to do is prioritise the order the products appear on my main domain. bearing in mind I have 5 products per page, this means that users from the UK would see a different set of products on the index page to visitors from the USA, however once they are past the Top 10 products, the results would be similar.

Incidentally, I have tried having the same index page content and links for visitors to pick their country, but the take-up on that despite being fairly obvious was at best, in the minority.

Does Google see this as "cloaking" or am I safe to do this without any SERPS fallout do you think?

Cheers

Just to clarify, the index page will show 5 different products depending on the user's country. Subsequent pages will not differ.

you should be fine as google classifies cloaking as presenting different sets of information to search engines and people, not different set of information on a country to country basis.

FYI, I have an link to an affiliate page at the top if a visitor is from the North America or Europe and I am seeing no penalties.
