I've spent the last couple of weeks reading the Yahoo forums and making my sites more Yahoo freindly. But as you say Gimp, it's best to avoid the algo's and look to take control.
I've approached some big local companies that I thought would never consider me for a link (no swaps, just one way in) and I've been pleasantly surprised by the results. Also considering getting new premises outside of town, nearer to our ring road, so I can splash advertising on my windows (limited in town centre).
Anyway ... I'll get back and hopefully feel less nervous when not waiting for everything to fall apart again.

We are seeing more traffic from the other search engines. And that is drifting upward, albeit slowly. But is says to us that something is happening.
I have no IMHO about what is happening. The patterns are just different.
In the middle of a Google Data Storm it is best just to look at the other best ways to make money that we should have been looking at all along. And we should be "inventing" new ways.
Rather than reading humble opinions about data centers, I have my people on learning how to use it. Take a look at it. It might help you solve something.
It seems that Unique meta description per page is vital more than ever now.
Ditto. My 500+ page site showed only one page (homepage) for a site:www.mydomain.com search after accidentally having same description for each page while revising the design template. Removed the Description and Keyword tags, and now shows 300+ pages. Took just about 10 days.
I have just noticed several web sites which I operate that are clean, and have virtually no strange seo tactics, except some minor keyowrd optimization and some link exchanges have gone from a pr6 and pr5 to pr0. Only two of about 20 web sites I have actually seem to be showing pr right now. I'm not sure if this is just me, or maybe there is a new update going on?
