A couple of weeks later, I was able to see my recent articles on google news when typing site:example.com and I started receiving traffic from it.
When submitting my site to google news, I carefully specified this url: http://www.example.com/press-releases so ONLY the press release that I publish would be included.
Google did poorly. It added to google news ALL the new pages on my site, not just the press release. Of course, this quickly got me removed entirely from google news.
I was surprised how inneficiant google news was on this matter.
A simple solution, would be to be able to specify an RSS feed to google news. This way I could send them my pr feed and get the items properly indexed.
But there is a conflicting stance here:
[google.com...]
"You can submit a News Sitemap that uses the News Sitemap protocol or you can submit an RSS or Atom feed."
but on
[google.com...]
"At this time, we don't accept RSS or Atom feeds for inclusion in Google News. Google News currently finds articles by crawling online news sites."
My message to google: let webmaster specify their RSS feeds for news and pr to google news, since it seems your technology has troubles extracting news content from some sites.
Cordially,
Brakkar
