Google ignores my site -- some questions

Not looking for miracles

First let me say that I have about a dozen websites. Most are my own and I have great Google rankings in about half of my sites -- one is consistantly Number 1 in it's keywords.

Here's my problem. I've designed a website for a Real Estate company in a resort community. And Google is spidering the site, and I have G Analytics and Sitemaps set up. But if you put the name of the company into Google it takes 8 pages before a link to the site comes up.

The name of the company is also full of relevent keywords, but seeing how the name of the company is also a 100% match to Google search shouldn't the link come up on Google by page 2 or 3 at the very least? Page 8 is pretty dissappointing.

As an example: If my company's website was Johnson Bannana Company (its not!) and this name is all over a 30 page website with content that is 100% about Johnson and Bannana why in the world would a Google search for Johnson Bannana Company come up with 8 pages of extremely non-relevent links before serving up the link to Johnson Bannana Company. Using my example Google would put 8 pages of Franks Bannana's and Johnson Water company before it would ever get to Johnson Bannana Company.

It leaves me confused and unsure how to correct this or where to go to get some legitimate help on fixing this.

Can you folks recommend any ideas?
Thanks

Your description of the website and the specific problem is very thin, so its hard to offer any advice. But here's a wild guess, based on what you said.

If your client is located in *Smallville*, and the name of the real estate company is *Smallville Real Estate* there could be any number of older, trusted sites from realtors in the Smallville area. Despite whatever their company names are, their sites would be focused around the terms 'smallville' and 'real etstate'. It's about the same as if you opened up a new site tomorrow for a company named 'Chicago Real Estate, Inc.'. I doubt very much that you would find that site rocketing to a position above all the older, larger, sites that do business in the Chicago real estate market.

If this doesn't apply in your case, you might try another post with more specifics. Good luck.

Hi thanks
I think you've got it pretty well. I'm vague because of the rules here. I don't want to cross any lines.

Lets say it's Smallville... the clients website is their business name: Smallville Legacy Real Estate. And when you put that into Google's search box you get everything BUT those keywords back.

You get Smallville Hospital... with a legacy of service to Smallville. You get John Doe's Real Estate with years of protecting the legacy of Smallville.

On page 8 of the Google search you get "Smallville Legacy Real Estate.

Sure I understand that the others have been there longer etc. But the ONLY link that perfectly mirrors the request is Smallville Legacy Real Estate. Shouldn't that come at least 5 or 6 pages closer to the front?

My client has asked me... "how can I get to at least page two." and I'm afraid I really can't tell him a way that is guaranteed to make that happen.

Sounds like either your client needs backlinks, or Google has penalized them. Since this sounds like a relatively new site, I assume it is "needs backlinks".

If the site is in fact relatively new, I suggest you study this thread:

I have noticed as well that G doesn't make much effort to match the word order in the target page with the word order in the search.

This is searching as a punter would search with a simple text string with no quotes or other modifications.
