Things I'm seeing that changed, ...
In google sitemaps, it's saying many pages have low pagerank, or many pages have not been assigned pagerank yet, but the visible PR is very high across the site.
It has many high quality links, pr5 across the whole site.
The allinanchor searches used to show the site ranking high, now it is nowwhere for those searches.
Google is here to make money. If sales slow down for Adwords, well guess what, they drop people that have the misfortune of not having old sites so those people having once benefited from good rankings and are now on page 20 start to pay Google. If you want to give it back to Google tell your clients to use MSN or ASK and let them pass it along. Google will then understand that it was communities like this one that made it what it is today, and now they have abandoned us. Then they may actually do things to help webmasters instead of pressuring them to buying ads.
I have now come to terms with this mess, although I am still pretty angry at the principle of it. I KNOW my site has the most and best information on my topic. My visitors KNOW it. Other webmasters KNOW it, and link to it because of it. Everyone involved in the topic KNOWS it, as does Yahoo and live.com.
The only party that doesn't is Google!
I would feel better if they admitted a problem, or even if they just gave some sort of reason, however divorced from reality. But to come here and tell us nothing has changed, when it so obviously has, that is what really takes the biscuit.
Just typed in www.mydomain.com in google, and my site comes up at the top of page 3.
Makes it kind of hard to respect a search engine with results like these.

Before the 18 November Google give me near 2000/day...
As others here, i'm waiting for my rankings come back, losing a lot of money...
Please Google, wake up!
I was appalled the other day when I located a white paper on the internet that contained detailed instructions for Google Employees (college students) who's job it was to manually scan the search results and evaluate sites for infractions AND apply PENALTIES to any site they suspect of such.
It is a very lame tactic indeed, and pretty much guarantees that top sites will be THE sites effected by such sophmoric patrols.
The only way to deal with a human imposed penalty is to beg to have a human remove it!
The BRILLIANCE that was once Google are no longer at the helm. That job is now relegated to average minded individuals who most likely do not have the creative vision to even maintain Googles once formidable position as search KING.
Pitiful, just pitiful, indeed.

I thought I'd look a bit more into OOP once I saw you mention that; it isn't really clear cut on some of the sites I saw falling off the map -- in some cases I could see how it could happen given our use of clean on-page optimization for specific phrases, but it wasn't so much on-page OOP as it was BLOOP that might have done some of these sites in. This is pretty silly though if it is truly the case -- I guess it is time to introduce some more phrases into the requested anchor text. Lovely.

OK, I've taken a sampling of authority "green widget" retailers (well-branded industry leaders, long standing rankings, PR 6 to 7, high link popularity) for keyword phrase "green widgets"On 72.14.203.*, these sites rank 2,4,7,15 and 18
On 72.14.207.*, these sites rank 413,420,424,430 and 431 respectively
Update: These authority sites have moved up to positions 408,416,420,425,426. Only ~400 rankings to go.
I just wanted to emphasize that these sites are competitors, in no way affiliated with me. They represent the Walmarts and Macy's of "green widgets". I'm using them to illustrate to those unbelievers out there that there is definitely a problem, at least in certain sectors.
P.S. BroadProspect, use of H tags varies greatly between these sites, so I don't think that accounts for it.
I'm sticking with the theory of "Sorry, our index is currently experiencing technical difficulties... please allow 1 to 4 weeks for us to realize that there's a problem and then an additional 1 to 6 weeks to fix it. Thank you for your endless patience. In the meantime, to relieve the stress of lost holiday profits, please a) spend more money on Adwords, and b) laugh at the funny fake collector card on Matt Cutt's blog."
on other pages , i took the keyword out of the H1 and left a diffrent title there, we shell see the impact also
i am starting to reduce the KW density as well on some other pages
the one trick thing is that if i will see a change it may be related to the "fresh bot" and not neccecerly to teh changes i did :-<

Here we go again, I remember reporting on here last year around this time about sales of PPC being down and sites losing rank, seems funny how it has happened again, same time, same place, I don't know about the rest of you, but since last Dec. MSN and Yahoo has really stepped up traffic for me, seems more and more people are leaving the flux of G.
Merry Christmas!
it's my first time here. Please apologize my bad english because I'm a German guy :O)
Well, indenpendend from Matts meager comments, I guess that Google needs more money for the christmas gratifications of the google members. A lot of dropped webmasters will compensate the losses by Adwords before they cannot buy christmas presents for their families. ;o)
Maybe it's interesting for you guys, that I've the same negative effect since the 8th of december here in Germany too.
It is unbelievable, that Google knows nothing about this phenomenon.
I've lost 90 % of my Adsense receipts during last 6 days and 2/3 of visitors per day. I'm very afraid because I guess, some advertising customers will not continue, if the problem remains.
It is very curious that easy keyword combinations are ranked very very bad (also in combination with parts of the domain name!) and more bad as difficult single keys. But generally there's no system detectable. Some hard keys are still good postioned between #1... #10 some single keys are dropped down #50... #100? :o/
My positions are well on the same datacenters as postet by the other guys. It is an international problem!
If the problem continues, my existence is in very bad danger and I dont't know what to do then. Unless I know by reading this thread, I'm not alone with that problem.
I don't think, we see older results, because my website is to old for that. Otherwise it must be very old resulst (from 2002 or earlier).
I hope it will be fine in a few days, but I can't believe so.
Not on the top 30 even when we have our 2 word Keyword title as the same as my www.mydomain.com on Google.
2 word title no space - mydomain - no www or.com / #1
mydomain.com / #2
www.mydomain.com / #4
searching with multiple keywords in the search we always where on the top #1 or 2 now we are all over the board from 21st spot to 112.
Please shut down all the dc's except
72.14.203.107
72.14.203.104
72.14.203.99
