Google Sitemap - Pending Verification Problems

Hi I have followed a thread located here [webmasterworld.com...] and tried to reply to it but was unable to so I was hoping to continue this discussion.

I have a very simple straight forward site and have both the Google verification processes in place. The sitemap I have submitted is still being downloaded though the actual verification is not working and therefore still pending, which is strange as it has been verified before.

Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone overcome this?

There were some Google bugs in this area, which Google's Vanessa Fox reports are now cleared up:

We had several sites subjected to a bug in the last few days, which required re verification, then Google wouldn't allow us to re submit initially , but thing seem to have corrected themselves OK now, with a new resubmit this morning.
