Having put adsense on a large number of pages recently there has been an increase in the number of supplemental results on google. Is this a result of adsense, coincidence, or another htlm fault. Comments and/or suggestions greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Were the pages in the index before you put adsense on them? Did you put adsense on everypage of your site?

There is no correlation between the two. So make independent decisions about each.

The only possible correlation between the two would be that each page you added adsense to is considered changed (it was, wasn't it, just by adding the adsense) therefor Google has a copy as it was and now as it is.
The as it was page would be supplemental if this was the case.
Maybe g1smd will add some insight, he has been chasing supplementals.

FWIW, IMO informational sites generally get an easier ride with G and it appears that the addition of AS to a previously "informational" site may lead to a linkage "revaluation" along BD guidelines, which you may remember led to many pages going supp.

I am thinking since adsense bot crawls to where visitors visit and that there are additional pages for this site going into the index for him that were not there before. May be that is causing duplicate content issues an supplementals.
May be part of the site was not crawlable before and now it is.
