Title Rotation - Causing a Penalty?

Will I do more harm than good by rotating my blog titles?

Is this a foul practice? I have an RSS article feed and the actual titles of the pages rotate via a PHP script keying on words most relevant to our entire site rather than the feed topic. Is this frowned upon? I'm trying to drive traffic to our site with just 30-40 related key phrases rather that the News title keywords that are most likely lost in the fray.

But the titles are not ststic. There are about different titles that auto-generate every time the article page is loaded. So Google may index it as one title one day, but it will change the next. Should the titles be static?

Your thoughts?

Welcome to the forums.

I wouldn't call it foul practice, but I think it could do more harm than good. I believe Google often rewards a degree of stability - especially in something like the page title. If each time Googlebot visits the page, it has a different title... what would you do if you were Google?
