Finally made #2 - thanks to everyone here for their help

Finally #2.....i have been hovering around #4 for the past 6 months or so...broke into 3rd for about 1 day......slipped down to seventh, and worked my way up to #2....

What do you think were the main factors that helped?

I don't remember what advice various people gave you, nor what you actually carried out.

it has been months of advice. I was trying to figure out how to get over that hurdle of 4th and 3rd place....

Unique title tags, using 1 <h1> per page, removing duplicate content on my pages, fixing 404s, using proper redirects, dumping useless reciprocal links, all those things i wasnt quite sure about....

#1 for our main keyword is a billion dollar company, so im pretty glad we are #2, because we are not a billion dollar company.

so anyone who has responded to my novice questions....Thanks!
