Could it be that pop-up and pop-under advertising have an influence on receiving traffic from Google?

[google.com...] says : Google does not accept pop-up advertising, which interferes with your ability to see the content you've requested.

Frankly I wish all the sites with popups / exit-popups were penalised on Google. It's a real nightmare!

I gave up quite a large chuck of revenue when I removed all my pop-unders.

I had a high traffic site set up with them, and was getting close to 3K a month off of them, but I got so sick of them, and figured so were my viewers, I went ahead and took the hit.

That was a couple months ago, and it does seem that it caused me to rise up in postion on a lot of keywords. With the added traffic and sales, removing them has already became profitable. So I guess I'm not really taking a "hit" anymore, but it didn't balance out overnight either.

I feel it was worth it, and I recommend anyone running them to stop, at least for a couple months, and see for yourself that it will help your positions.
