Recently i found that more than 80% of my test sites pages are indexed in Google. All these pages are similar to my main site pages and i am afraid that a penalty has already been set on my site, as there has been a sudden drop in rankings for several of my competitive keyphrases. There is no link to the test site from anywhere on my main site and obviously i have not promoted my test site url anywhere.

How do i remove these test site pages from Google index. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the link for the various ways Google offer you to remove items from the index:

If you feel the need is urgent, you can use their automated URL removal console. Just be careful -- any mistake you make here will last for 180 days.
