Is Google Cache Date the Last Time Page Spidered?

Hi,

Can anyone clarify whether Google's cache of a page is also the last time that the page was spidered?

For instance, when I view Google's cached version of a page and it says:

'.. as retrieved on 18 Nov 2006 18:37:51 GMT'

Does this mean that the page was last spidered on this date and time also?

They are not always in synch. The only really trusted source of "last spidered" data is my own server logs.
