Google requesting /verify-User Compliance on my site

google.co.uk/search is getting a 404 for file "/verify-User_Compliance"

- which has never existed on the site - what can it be looking for?

Sometimes this kind of mystery happens with bots. You may never know where the bogus URL comes from - IBL, bug, toolbar data, whatever. When I see this kind of request, I just ensure I am serving a true 404 response code and move on to more mission critical things.

Doing an inurl: search for that string returns zero results across the entire web, so it's just some odd data burp, I'd say.
