Googlebot, Googlebot, Please Come Back!

What can you expect when you tell your friends to go away?

Back in early October, my servers were being hammered by "Googlebot". I didn't take the time to verify that it actually was Googlebot, before I banned a handful of their IP's. I lifted the ban a few days later, but Googlebot has not come back since. It is now going on six weeks, and I am starting to become concerned. My sites are still ranking for various terms, but none of my new content has been indexed since I instituted the ban. How can I get my dear old friend to come back? Is Googlebot really that sensitive? Maybe I hurt his feelings...

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Have you submitted a SiteMap to Google Webmaster Tools?

If you haven't I'd suggest you do it asap. That should bring Googlebot back - unless your site is being penalised for some reason. If it is being penalised, Webmaster Tools might assist you in locating the problem.
